Family pay tribute to 92-year-old hit by car in Holyhead

THE family and friends of Edward John Hughes, who died following a road traffic collision on Wian Street, Holyhead two weeks ago have paid tribute.

“The family of 92, year-old Edward John Hughes, known locally as ‘Iori’ would like to thank everyone who have been supportive of them throughout this sad period after his death, following a road traffic collision which occurred in Wian street,  Holyhead on Saturday, June 3,” they said.

“He was a loving father and grandfather to Keith, Colin, Mark and Vaughan.

“’Iori,’ as he was known, was a popular local character who was well known by members of the community of Holyhead. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision which involved a black coloured Vauxhall Insignia car on the junction of Wian Street and London Road shortly before 12:30pm on Saturday,  June 3.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Llandegai on 101, quoting reference number V081018.
