A man who staged a stand-off with police in Connah’s Quay was wanted on recall to prison.

Officers tried for several hours to coax down a man who had clambered on top of a low building on Celtic Street in Connah’s Quay on Tuesday afternoon.

Nearby residents said on Tuesday that the man had been on the substation roof from 3.30pm.

A North Wales Police spokesman confirmed he had been wanted on recall and came down from the roof voluntarily.

The man, who was wearing a black coat with the hood up and black trousers, was heard shouting about returning to jail and the spokesman said officers resolved the matter shortly before 8pm.
