Another high-profile and long-standing councillor has announced he is stepping down from Powys County Council.

Former PCC Chairman Cllr Roche Davies has announced he will not be running in the May elections, after representing Llandinam for 13 years.

Announcing his decision this week, Cllr Davies expressed his thanks for the support he has received.

“I have decided to announce that I am going to stand down as a Powys County Councillor,” said Cllr Davies.

“I have been a representative of Llandinam, Llidiartywaen, Mochdre and Penstrowed Ward since 2004.

“In May 2014 I was honoured to have been elected Chairman of Powys County Council, and prior to that I was Chairman of Montgomeryshire in 2010.

“I was also a Montgomeryshire District Councillor for five years and a Llandinam Community Councillor for 52 years as well as serving on various other committees over the years.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support over the years.”
